1. Tower head


Function: The top structure of the iron tower is used to support and fix transmission conductors and lightning conductors, serving as the support point for overhead lines.


Structural characteristics: It is usually located above the section where the tower section changes sharply, or above the lower chord of the lower crossarm.


2. Tower body


Function: The main body of the iron tower, connecting the tower head and the tower leg, and responsible for load transfer.


Structural characteristics: It is usually welded from multiple sections of steel pipes or angle irons, serving as the intermediate support structure of the iron tower.


3. Tower leg


Function: The support part at the bottom of the iron tower, connecting the tower body and the foundation, ensuring the stability of the iron tower.


Structural features: Typically, it is a bifurcated structure connected to the foundation, and sometimes a high-low leg design is adopted to adapt to the terrain.


4. Other components


Foundation: The buried concrete structure ensures the stability of the iron tower and prevents it from tilting or settling.
Insulator: Used to ensure the insulation performance between the conductor and the tower, preventing current leakage.
Lightning conductor: used to protect the iron tower from lightning strikes.
Grounding device: Connect the iron tower to the ground to ensure the safe discharge of current into the earth.
Ladders and platforms: Facilities for maintenance personnel to climb and work, which must comply with safety standards.
Antenna bracket (unique to communication towers): used for installing antennas or other communication equipment.
Connecting components: Fasteners such as bolts and nuts, ensuring the secure connection of various structural parts.
