Structural System Engineering

Load Transfer Mechanism
The tower configuration utilizes a precise determinate load path to distribute combined forces:
Vertical Load: Deadweight of bundled conductors, insulator strings, hardware accessories, and localized ice accretion.
Transverse Load: Wind pressure acting perpendicularly on the conductor spans, earth wires, and the projected area of the tower body.
Longitudinal Load: Unbalanced tension resulting from line deviation angles, broken wire emergency conditions, and terminal dead-ends.
Dynamic Load: Wind-induced vortex vibrations and conductor galloping effects.

All induced stresses are channeled through structural diagonal bracing into the main leg members, terminating at the foundation anchor bolts.

Main Structural Components
Earth Wire Apex (Peak): Positioned at the highest point to support continuous shield wires or OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) for lightning protection and high-bandwidth data transmission.
Cross-Arms: Engineered to maintain strict phase-to-phase and phase-to-body electrical clearances based on voltage class, lightning impulse insulation levels (BIL), and environmental pollution zones.
Tower Body (Cage Section): Tapered structural section optimized using structural analysis software to resist high overturning moments and buckling under combined stress states.
Tower Legs & Base Interface: Transfers ultimate shear and uplift forces to the civil footings via heavy-duty embedded anchor bolt cages or stub templates.

Manufacturing Quality Control

To ensure zero-defect field execution, our manufacturing facility enforces strict quality control gates for every batch:
Dimensional Tolerances: CNC punching and drilling ensures bolt hole alignment within ±1.5 mm tolerance.
Member Straightness: Automated inspection prevents any camber or sweep deviations in main structural angles.
Prototype Trial Assembly: Full-scale physical pre-fit validation of the first article for each tower type before mass production to guarantee perfect field alignment.
Galvanization Verification: Non-destructive ultrasonic thickness testing across critical joints and members.
Traceability: Hard-stamped part numbers on every individual component mapping directly to the shipping packing list and structural drawings.

Q: Can your engineering team customize tower designs to match our local grid codes?

A: Yes. Our in-house engineering team utilizes PLS-TOWER and PLS-CADD software to design, modify, and optimize tower structures in strict accordance with IEC, ASCE 10-15, BS, or specific national utility standards provided in your tender documents.

Q: What data is required from our engineering team to initiate a custom design or quotation?

A: To provide an accurate technical proposal, please supply: Transmission line voltage class, conductor/earth wire/OPGW specifications, weather design criteria (maximum wind speed, ice loading, ambient temperature range), span lengths (ruling span and max wind/weight spans), line deviation angles, and configuration requirements (single/double circuit).

Q: Do you perform full-scale prototype loading tests?

A: Yes. We can coordinate and facilitate full-scale physical tower destructive and non-destructive load testing at certified testing stations to validate the structural integrity against ultimate design limits if mandated by the client's tender specifications.

Q: How do you prevent components from missing or getting mixed up during transit to site?

A: Every single steel member is uniquely hard-stamped with a clear part ID before galvanization. This ID corresponds directly to the detailed packing list and assembly drawings. Bundles are color-coded and structured by tower section (Legs, Body, Cross-arms) to streamline inventory management at the EPC laydown yard.

Q: Can these structures be engineered for multi-circuit or under-slung distribution line configurations?

A: Yes. Cross-arms can be customized to support single, double, or multi-circuit configurations, including dedicated mounting points for under-slung distribution lines (e.g., 11kV/33kV under-slung paths beneath a 220kV transmission line) and OPGW fiber paths.

Q: Are foundation civil design services included in your scope of supply?

A: We provide complete Foundation Load Data Sheets detailing the ultimate overturning moments, downward compression forces, and uplift shear forces at the base stub interface. Your civil engineers can utilize this data for local soil-specific footing designs, or our team can provide optimized foundation drawings upon request.
