A radio transmission tower is a tall structure used for transmitting or receiving radio waves, widely used in fields such as communication, broadcasting, television, radar, and navigation, ensuring that signals can be transmitted over long distances and stably.

According to different functions and application scenarios, wireless transmission towers can be divided into the following categories:

1. Radio and television transmission tower
Purpose: To transmit FM radio, shortwave radio, and terrestrial digital television signals.
Characteristics: Typically high-power transmission, wide coverage, and signals that can be received by the public for free.
Representative cases: Guishan TV Tower in Wuhan, China (221.2 meters, China's first self-designed reinforced concrete broadcasting and television tower), and Toronto TV Tower in Canada (553 meters).

2. Mobile base station tower (communication tower)
Purpose: To support mobile communication antennas and achieve cellular network coverage such as 4G/5G.
Features: The signal is a paid service and needs to be used through the operator's package; The tower body is mostly constructed and shared by China Tower Corporation Limited with the three major operators of China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom.
Development trend: Transforming towards "digital towers", integrating multiple functions such as environmental monitoring, drone parking aprons, and smart emergency response, serving smart cities and low altitude economies.

3. Dedicated communication and microwave tower
Usage: Used for professional communication systems such as public security, fire protection, power dispatch, and aviation control (such as the "350 Mbps" public security command system).
Features: Dedicated working frequency band, strong anti-interference ability, ensuring communication security in key industries.

4. Historic experimental tower
Representative case: Wardenclyffe Tower, designed by Nikola Tesla, was originally planned to achieve transatlantic radio broadcasting and wireless transmission, but was not completed due to funding issues.
Meaning: Although not successful, it provides important inspiration for modern wireless communication technology.

5. Multi functional comprehensive tower
Trend: Through the "one tower multi energy, one site multi use" model, achieve infrastructure intensification.
